  12. Safety • Do not open school door for ANYONE. • Notify staff member of any suspicious person or situation. • Fire and Tornado locations. • Intruder

  16. Dismissal • Sit and wait quietly at desks. Work on Skills Practice. • Absolutely no leaving the classroom after 3:10! • NO talking while announcements are on. • Whisper quietly between announcements, if necessary. • Wait until name/bus is called before leaving. • Put chair up on desk when bus is called. • Pick everything up off the floor.

  19. Absences • Copy assignments from web site. • Get papers from absent tray/teacher. • Ask teacher what you missed. • Turn in make-up work promptly! • KEEP CHECKING w/TEACHER!!!!

  21. Restrooms • Only when needed, not excessive. • Use restroom pass and sign out. • RETURN the pass. • Not during instruction unless emergency. • You are responsible for asking what you missed when you return.

  23. FACT:This year will be challenging. HOW TO SUCCEED: • Put in the practice time (homework). • Ask for help when you’re stuck.

  24. FACT:You are now “driving the bus.” HOW TO SUCCEED: • You can still have parents help you, but you should be doing more work than they are.

  25. Fact: You need to be informed. • Check Grade Book every week. • Use teacher web sites.

  26. Homework – Part 1 • Have a regular time and place. • Area s/b well lighted and free of distraction. • Should not exceed one hour per evening. • Tests are announced in advance to allow enough time to study.

  27. Homework – Part 2 • Spend 15 minutes each night reading silently. • Review notes on a nightly basis. • Sloppy work & torn papers will not be accepted. • Papers should be headed properly. • Homework Folder should come home nightly.

  28. Homework & Grading Policy • All assignments should be turned in on time. • Homework counts for 20% of grade. • Important practice for assessments (80% of grade).

Miscellaneous • Students will not be allowed to go back to classrooms/lockers during class time, unless teacher decides it is necessary. • Except for extenuating circumstances, duplicate worksheets will not be provided for late/makeup work. • Students are only permitted to call home for forgotten lunches or permission slips, not for forgotten homework assignments.
