  2. THE LIFE OF NOAH INTRODUCTION Because of Noah’s faith and righteousness, midst terrible wickedness, the world was saved. Tonight, Noah: His Life and Character. The Flood. God’s Covenant and the Rainbow.

  3. THE LIFE OF NOAH HIS LIFE, AND CHARACTER A. Noah was blessed with a long life: 1. He was 480 when God told him the flood was coming. 2. He was 500 when his first son was born. 3. He was 600 when the Flood came. 4. He died at the age of 950. B. Genesis 6:9 tell us three things about Noah.

  4. THE LIFE OF NOAH HIS LIFE, AND CHARACTER C. Noah’s righteousness came from his faith (Heb. 11:7). D. Noah was a preacher of righteousness (2Pet. 2:5; Gen. 6:11-13). F. Noah built an ark to save the selected animals and his family (Gen. 6:13-16; 1Pet. 3:20).

  6. THE LIFE OF NOAH THE FLOOD A. Noah and the Ark (Gen. 6:14-18): 1. The ark was about 450 ft. long, 75 ft. wide, and 45 ft. high. It had three decks divided into compartments, with a course of windows around the top and one door. 2. The ark was made of gopher wood and sealed with pitch. 3. Noah was to take himself, his wife, his 3 sons, and their wives on the ark.

  7. THE LIFE OF NOAH THE FLOOD B. Noah and the Animals (Gen. 6:21): 1. Noah was to store food for his family & the animals on the ark. 2. Noah was to gather the animals onto the ark: a. Seven pairs of clean animals. b. One pair of unclean animals.

  8. THE LIFE OF NOAH THE FLOOD C. Noah and the Flood (Gen. 7:4-24; 8:3,14-19): 1. The rains poured and the fountains of the deep were opened to cause the earth to flood. 2. This phenomenon took place for 40 days and 40 nights. 3. The water covered the tops of the mountains and all flesh that moved upon the earth that was not in the ark died.

  9. THE LIFE OF NOAH THE FLOOD C. Noah and the Flood (Gen. 7:4-24; 8:3,14-19): 4. Time in the ark: 1 year, 17 days (5 months floating, & 7 months on the mountain). 5. Noah probably began his trip in the ark around Fara, a town in Babylon on the Euphrates, and ended up on Mt. Ararat some 500 miles away.
