  1. NYC 2015 Parent and Participant Meeting #2 June 10, 2014

  2. Fundraising Target: $18,000 to $20,000 $1800.00 – $2000.00 per student/traveller. I’d like to include as much as possible in the trip price – meals, subway, sightseeing, while having the money to take in some of the really exciting (and more expensive) shows. If we come up short, students will have to get some meals and transit out-of-pocket.

  3. Where are we now? We currently have $7,800.00 so we are more than 1/3 of the way there! Individual totals have been shared this meeting.

  4. Possible Fundraisers Yard sale – food and drinks Vessey’s Bulbs Little Luxuries 2 Coffee houses Divas and Desserts Band fundraisers – Citrus and los primos

  5. 50-mile yard sale Last group sold hot dogs and cold drinks, freezies (?) at 3 locations, Saturday only. Profit $937.52 This year’s date is September 6 Middleton Church? – Madalyn and Erin Upper - Krista and Jenna Carroll’s Corner - Katie/Gabby Danielle and James–Danielle’s driveway

  6. Vessey’s Bulbs Profit 50% of sales Orders due Sept 30th. Orders for 2 weeks

  7. Little Luxuries Support a local business! Theresa Dunlop Oct 9 or 10 send forms out. 2 weeks to sell. Product back in plenty of time for Christmas Students earn 50% of total sales

  8. Coffee houses Last one earned $570.30 Previous profits $539.00 and $655.00 Though not hugely profitable, these shows benefit the school community in many ways and offer a unique fundraising experience. I recommend late September and 2nd week of March (before the break) Will confirm dates ASAP

  9. Divas and Desserts February 25th (Wed) or 26th (Thu) - during Mt. A Reading Week. Must have at least one snow date. Venue – We’ve decided to move the show to the theatre. I will approach the theatre board to request a discount on the facilities rental. Auction before show and during intermission. Dessert buffet during long intermision.

  10. Divas at MVBT

  11. Projected Income (based on past fundraisers) Yard sale – food and drinks ($900) Vessey’s Bulbs ($600) Little Luxuries ($500?) 2 Coffee houses ($1,200) Divas and Desserts ($6,000) Band fundraisers – Citrus and los primos ($250) Projected total $8850.00 - For grand total of $16,650

  12. How do we get to our target? Shortfall: $1350 - $3350 (for $1,8000-$20,000 goal) Suggestions: Bottle drives: Past drives raised $400 each. Katie will set up account at Elmsdale instead. Work harder to sell Vesseys, Little Luxuries, Citrus, etc. Get more people out to coffee houses, divas. Car Wash – possible for September, also Rally in the Valley if the yard sale doesn’t go well due to poor weather.

  13. Trip Planning We need a Facebook (private) group to bounce ideas around over the summer. Person Responsible: Gabrielle. Danielle - Twitter Shows I’m considering: Lion King, Matilda, Kinky Boots, Avenue Q (if still playing) Blue Man Group. Keeping an eye on new and exciting shows too. Possibly an opera (“Ernani”) at the Met. Museums I’m considering: MoMa, Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art

  14. Neighbourhoods we’ll explore: Central Park – walking tour Times Square – free time, souvenir shopping Greenwich Village and NYU – walking tour Financial District – walking tour and ferry to Staten Island and back Chinatown/Little Italy – Dim Sum lunch! Rockefeller Centre, Lincoln centre (Midtown)

  15. Planning – What can you do right now to prepare? Submit your “NYC Bucket Lists” ASAP, and I’ll try to accommodate. Use the facebook group and include links so I can check it out. • Make sure you have an up-to-date passport. Send me your passport number ASAP for booking flights • Give some thought to phone plans • Don’t buy travel insurance - will be included in your trip package. If you have an ongoing policy, let me know. • Plan to pack everything in one carry-on bag. You’ll need tiny toiletry bottles.

  16. Keeping in touch We’ll use the facebook group over the summer to communicate planning for fundraisers and the actual trip.
