  1. INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP, 28-29 November 2007 • Polarized Neutron Scattering at ANSTO • ANSTO, The Bragg Institute, Menai NSW, Australia • Purpose: • The purpose of this ANSTO workshop is to demonstrate the scientific opportunities of polarized neutron scattering to Australian industry, government and universities, and to define specifications for polarized neutron capabilities at the OPAL beam instruments. • Workshop agenda: • During the workshop, we will discuss the science case and the potential capabilities of current and future OPAL instruments employing state-of-the-art polarization techniques. We will conclude the workshop with a brainstorming session where we would like to draft a report on the scientific and technical requirements for upgrading the OPAL instruments with polarized neutron capabilities and for the required infrastructure (3He lab etc.). For this we seek for comments, suggestions, ideas etc. of all workshop attendees. • Attendees/Speakers will include • Ken Andersen (ILL, France) • Trevor Finlayson (University of Melbourne) • Thomas Gentile (NIST, USA) • Trevor Hicks (Monash University) • Thomas Keller (MPI Stuttgart, FRM2, Germany) • Sean Li (University of New South Wales) • Chris Ling (University of Sydney) • Annemieke Mulders (Curtin University of Technology) • Robert Stamps (University of Western Australia) • John Stride (University of New South Wales) • Grant Williams (Industrial Research Limited, New Zealand) • Please visit our website to find more information as well as to register for the workshop. • www.ansto.gov.au/bragg/science/conferences_and_workshops/polarized_neutron_workshop • The registration deadline is 2nd November, 2007. • Participants from AINSE Member Universities may be eligible for airfare and accommodation support. Late registrants will not be eligible for airfare or accommodation support. • Local Organisers • Frank Klose (ANSTO) • Dennis Mather (AINSE) • Rob Robinson (ANSTO) • Jamie Schulz (ANSTO)
