  2. Why this workshop? • Cosmic Explosions: area of common interest • Promote cross-town collaboration • Harness LCO, Palomar, Keck and Magellan to make Pasadena the leading center in cosmic explosions

  3. Carnegie Effort Major initiative on Ia SNe at LCO (Freedman, Phillips talk) Campanas Swope 40-inch (C40) Campanas du Pont 100-inch (C100) Magellan Telescopes (Baade & Clay)

  4. Developments at Palomar • Palomar 48-inch (P48) now equipped with mosaic CCD (QUEST) -> Yale Intermediate SN program -> LBL SN Factory for local Ia SNe • Palomar 60-inch (P60) now robotocized and currently equipped with CCD imager -> Ready to respond to SWIFT • sLOTIS partnership with P60

  5. Caltech Effort • NuStars, SMEX mission focussed on nuclear lines (Harrison talk) • Collapsars (Soderberg) • SNe: cosmology (Ellis talk) • GRB Program (Fox, Park)
