  1. Wudhu(Ablution) By : Syeda Zahida Naqavi

  2. Wudhu وُضُوْ Wudhu (ablution) is the Islamic procedure for washing parts of the body using clean water, generally in preparation for formal prayers or recitation of the Holy Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an says "For Allah (SWT) loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.“(2:222)

  3. The philosophy behind Wudhu • Two manifest benefits • Medical Benefits • Cleanliness (results in achieving the equilibrium of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves of the body. • Improved diastolic • Eliminates germs from the body • Spiritual Benefits • Since performed for the pleasure of the Creator, it has an educative influence •  The implicit meaning: from head to toe I strive to obey Allah

  4. Wudhu, in Holy Qur’an The procedure of Wudhu has been simply explained in the Holy Qur’an. When you rise up to prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles;”

  5. Wudhu, according to Imam Reza (as) “ Wudhu eliminates drowsiness and lethargy from man so that the heart can acquire the purity and luminosity for standing in the presence of Allah.” Wasa`il ash-Shia, vol. 1, pg. 257

  6. Scientific benefits of Wudhu Improved Circulatory System Reinforcement of the Immune System Avoidance of imbalance of Static Electricity Elimination of germs and impurities For detailed information, please visithttp://www.islamic-replies.ucoz.com/Benefits_Of_Ablution.html

  7. The 13 conditions If the following conditions are present, then the Wudhu will be correct, otherwise will be void. The water must be Taahir (clean) and not najis; The water must be Mubah (permissible to use); The water must be Mutlaq (pure not mixed); The container must be Mubah; The container must not be made of gold/silver; The parts of the body to be washed/wiped must be Taahir;

  8. The 13 conditions ……. The body must be free of any obstruction that would prevent the water from reaching it; The Niyyat should be of “nearness to Allah” and not for showing of; Tarteeb (succession) in actions must be observed; Muwaalat (no gaps) in the actions; One must not acquire the help of others; No constraints in using the water; There must be enough time to perform wudhu and salaat.

  9. Wudhu is Waajib • For all obligatory prayers; • Namaz-e-Mayyat is waajib-e-kifaaee and wudhu is not waajib • For the forgotten Sajdah and Tashahud during the prayers; • Provided that wudhu was invalidated after the salaat • Wudhu is not waajib for Sajdatus Sahu • For the obligatory Tawaaf of the Holy Ka’aba

  10. Wudhu is Waajib ….. • Wudhu for Nadhr, Qasm, Ahad; • If a person has vowed, sworn or pledged to perform ablution • If a person has vowed, sworn or pledged to touch the Holy Qur’an with the parts of his body • To wash and purify the Holy Qur’an; • If the Holy Qur’an becomes impure, one should perform wudhu before washing it. However, if the delay causes further desecration, it is allowed to touch it without wudhu.

  11. Mustahab …… before Wudhu • Brushing your teeth • Facing Qibla • Saying Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem • Washing hands up to the wrists • Gargling 3 times • Washing the nose 3 times

  12. Mustahab …… after Wudhu • Do not wipe or dry out the parts of the body on which you just performed wudhu • Reciting supplications during and after wudhu • Reciting Ayatul Kursi after wudhu • Recite Surah Al-Qadr 3 time after wudhu • Do dua and ask Allah (SWT) to fulfill your valid wishes

  13. Wudhu is broken > > > • Discharge of urine • Discharge of excretion • Discharge of gas through anus • A sleep, deep enough to restrict sight and hearing. However, if the eyes do not see anything, but the ears can hear, wudhu does not become void. • Things on account of which a person loses his sensibility, like insanity, intoxication or unconsciousness. • Istihaza (menstrual periods) • Janabat, and, as a recommended precaution, every state which requires Ghusl.

  14. Wudhu – step by step • It is compulsory to perform Wudhu for all obligatory Salaat, with the exception of Salat al-Mayyat (Salaat for the deceased person). In Wudhu, we wash our face and hands; and wipe our head and the top of our feet. • It is waajib to do NIYYAT (have intention) for the wudhu and that it is for nearness to Allah. • Certain steps are highly recommended (MUSTAHAB), but are not Waajib. See slide 11

  15. Supplicationsbefore starting Wudhu "I begin my ablution in the Name of Allah. All praise is due to Allah, Who made water purifying, and not najis.“ Bismillahi wa billahi wal hamdu lil lahil lazi ja'alal ma'a tahura wa lam yaj alhu najisa. بِسْمِ اللہِ وَ بِااللہِ وَالْحَمْدُ للہِ الْذِیْ جَعَلَ الْمَائ طَہُوْرَۃَ وَلَمْ یَجْعَلْہُ نَجِسَ

  18. Supplicationswhile washing the nose O Lord!
