  4. Importance of knowing the purpose of human creation

  5. Importance of knowing the purpose of human creation according to Common sense (Allah-gifted general knowledge)

  6. View point-1 • View point of receiving benefit

  7. In order to derive benefit from using something, one has to keep the fulfilment of the purpose of its creation in top priority.

  8. Example- a pen

  9. So, if man is to get benefit out of his life he has to lead his life by keeping in mind the purpose of his own creation.

  10. So, it is very important to know the purpose of human creation.

  11. View point-2 • View point of identification of truth and falsehood

  12. If one knows the purpose of creation or compilation of something, he can easily identify what is false and what is true regarding that thing.

  13. Principle of that identification: If it is perceived that a task creates a clear obstacle in the achievement of the purpose of something, then it can be easily said that the task can not be any rule, regulation or duty regarding that thing.

  14. Example- a knife

  15. So, if anybody correctly knows the purpose of human creation he will able to identify easily which is false and which is true, in relation to his life.

  16. As a result it will be possible for him to acquire the correct knowledge of Islam and be successful in this world and in the world hereafter.

  17. So, having the correct knowledge of the purpose of human creation has limitless importance.

  18. Importance of knowing the purpose of human creation according to the Qur’an

(Sowad/38 : 27)

  20. Meaning: I did not create the sky and earth and anything in the space between them without purpose. This is the imagination of the infidels. Those infidels (Kafirs) will be gutted by hell fire.

  21. Explanation:Here Allah said, imagining that anything of this universe including man has been created without a purpose is an act of infidelity. And a person who has such thoughts is destined for Hell fire.

  22. So, if a person converts such thoughts into belief and acts accordingly, he definitely has to suffer a more severe punishment.

  23. So, according to this verse, having the correct knowledge of the purpose of human creation is of immense importance.

  24. Perception of present day Muslims about the purpose of human creation

  25. Perception-1

  26. Many Muslims think that Allah has created man only to perform rituals like Salat, Sawm, Hajj, Zakat, Tasbih-tahlil etc.

  27. To them, the proof of their belief is the following verse of the Holy Qur’an-

  28. وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْاِنْسَ اِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُوُنِ . Meaning:I have created Zin and Human only for my Ibadat (Salat, Sawm, Hajj, Zakat, Tasbih-tahlil etc). (Zariat/51 : 56)

  29. Perception-2

  30. Many Muslims are of the opinion that man has been created only to do servitude of Allah.

  31. Proof of these people’s belief is also the same verse of the Holy Qur’an- وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْاِنْسَ اِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُوُنِ . Meaning:I have created Zin and Human only for my servitude. (Zariat/51 : 56)

  32. In this perception also, offering of rituals like Salat, Sawm, Hajj, Zakat, Tasbih-tahlil etc. fall within the purpose of human creation. As those are also the duties of a servant of Allah (ST).

  33. Perception-3

  34. Many Muslim think that men are created to lead their lives as Allah’s representative.

  35. Here also, offering of rituals like Salat, Sawm, Hajj, Zakat, Tasbih-tahlil etc. fall within the purpose of human creation. As those are also the duties of a representative of Allah (ST).

  36. These people justify their belief by the following verse of the Holy Qur’an-

  37. ... ... ... اِنِّىْ جَاعِلٌ فِى الْاَرْضِ خَلِيْفَةً ط Meaning: … … … I am going to send representative on earth. (Bakarah/2 : 30)

  38. Classification of the activities of human life

  39. All human activities Worship (knowledge of the Qur’an, Iman, Salat, Zakat, Saom, Hajj and Tasbih-tahlil etc.) Just and unjust activities (speak the truth, avoid falsehood, do good to others, to arrange food, clothing, shelter & education for others if one is well off, do harm to none etc.) Health related activities (eating, exercise, treatment, etc). Environment developmental activities (General education, economics, science, defence etc.)

  40. The purpose of human creation according to Common sense (Allah-gifted general knowledge)

  41. Fact-1

  42. Among the matters related to an object a particular one, or a group, is the aim of its creation or compilation and the rest are provisions or means (things that are required to achieve that aim).

  43. Example- Medical science

  44. So, one of the four groups of activities of human life will be the purpose of human creation and the other three will be the provisions.

  45. Worships (knowledge of the Qur’an, Iman, Salat, Zakat, Saom, Hajj and Tasbih-tahlilect.) Just and unjust acts (speak the truth, avoid falsehood, do good to others, to arrange food, clothing, shelter & education for others if one is well off, do harm to none etc.) Health related activities (eating, exercise, treatment, etc). Environment developmental activities (General education, economics, science, defenceect.)

  46. Fact-2

  47. The tasks that impart lessons or are designed to develop something, can never be the purpose itself. They will rather be the provisions. Because, the lessons are given or the developments are made to achieve a certain aim.

  48. Health and environment related activities help to develop health and the environment respectively. So, activities of these two groups are among the provisions of human creation, and not the purpose itself.

  50. If Almighty Allah let us know through Qur’an and Sunnah that acts of worship are to teach man something, then those tasks will be provision-related and not purpose-related.
