  4. What can you do? • 7 role options: • Schools Assistant • Teacher • Sports Coach • Outdoor Activities Instructor • Community Worker • Medical Assistant • Caring Assistant

  5. Schools Assistant • Become a mentor, big brother or sister, tutor, and inspiration to many students • Assist in the boarding house, support teachers in class, help with afterschool activities, eg sports, drama/arts club • Available in Argentina, Australia, UK

  6. Teacher • Draw upon your own educational background to mentor and teach students in class • Conversational English will be a focus and other subjects as needed • Available in Argentina, China, Fiji, Ghana, India, Malawi, Poland, Vanuatu, Vietnam

  7. Sports Coach • Use your sporting skills to help students gain confidence and improve their own skills • Coach team or individual sports such as soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, badminton • Available in Ghana, Vietnam

  8. Outdoor Activities Instructor • Support a wide range of young people at outdoor camps from local schools and community centres • Lead activities like canoeing, rock climbing, horse riding, archery, ropes, orienteering • Available in Canada, UK

  9. Community Worker • Work within communities to provide assistance in meaningful ways, often to disadvantaged groups • Work with children in orphanages, young people with special needs, elderly people in community centres or assist with building projects • Available in Argentina, Fiji, India, Malawi

  10. Medical Assistant • Support paid staff in hospitals or community centres with basic tasks and patient care • Obtain invaluable experience if considering a career in a medical field • Available in Japan, Malawi

  11. Caring Assistant • Assist paid staff in residential homes, community centres and hospitals • Provide care to residents and help with group activities that are greatly enjoyed by all, eg sports sessions, shopping trips, movies • Available in Japan, UK

  13. Why Lattitude? Opportunity to do something you normally wouldn’t Placements are available in 13 countries lasting 3 to 11 months Support: - interview and matching process - dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help plan & prepare - pre departure briefing camp, in-country orientation & training - Country Manager & Lattitude Representatives in-country, Host Mentor at placement - 24/7 emergency support from Melbourne

Funding: - www.lattitude.org.au/funding - apply for a Lattitude Scholarship to help with flights or placement costs - Fundraising Guide Food, accommodation and (in some cases) pocket money provided Value for money as non profit organisation Youth Allowance – letter confirming hours/earnings from placement which can help when applying for Youth Allowance

  15. Costs for 2014 Allow between $5000 - $8000 to fund your placement costs Other costs may include purchasing a passport and travel vaccinations
