  1. NPP Lead Partner Meeting 18th – 19th September 2013 • Scandic Hotel, Skellefteå, Sweden Implementing Transnational Telemedicine SolutionsLee Dowie, Project Manager

  2. Project Aims • To implement transnational telemedicine solutions, at scale, across the Northern Periphery region by: • Improving accessibility, situating services in local communities or in patients’ homes • Normalising the use of technology into everyday practice • Fostering transnational knowledge exchange

  3. Demonstrator projects

  4. Telemedicine Expertise: ITAS • ITAS - International Telemedicine Advisory Service • All partner countries represented • ITAS provide advice and guidance throughout the project, during planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination

  5. Outliving the NPP Sustainability of our projects is at the core of our project • How will your products and services outlive the NPP funding? • Services are to be part of ‘every day practice’ • Equipment has been bought and not hired or borrowed • Quote from Speech Therapist in Scotland • “we now view VC  as a routinely used tool/option to deliver our service” • When did you start implementing a sustainability? • THE START - Each ‘business case’ looked into sustainability of the demonstrator project before it was implemented • How did you plan this with your partners? • A transnational sub-group was set up for each demonstrator project. • Transnational knowledge exchange – relationships which will continue beyond the life of the project

  6. Outliving the NPP • What were the main points of your sustainability plan that led to your success? • Creating business cases and having them evaluated by a transnational group of experts (ITAS) • Results are being collated from all partner countries for evaluation and dissemination throughout project partnership area and beyond • Evaluation of the services will provide evidence to inform Policy Makers and to sustain and grow the service • What are the good practices and lessons learnt that will help other projects to become successful? • Don’t underestimate the planning involved. Implementing a new service requires winning the hearts and minds of, in our case, the health service as well as overcoming IT issues and organisational issues.

  7. Beyond the NPP Health cluster for capitalising integrated, innovative and transferable health care models and solutions for healthy ageing and independent living in NWE and beyond ‘Healthy Ageing’ • Funded by INTERREG IVB North West Europe • 15 project partnerships from across Europe involved • Project will look at ways to streamline project results to Horizon 2020 and channel EU funding to implement future transnational innovation initiatives in the field of active and healthy ageing and independent living.  • ITTS has facilitated future collaborations • extending the project team beyond the • NPP region
