  3. Our Landscape

  4. Policy and Strategy • Glasgow Youth Employability Partnership in Place • Ten year Single Outcome Agreement on Youth Employment Agreed • Clear Strategies at City and Scottish Level • Glasgow Youth Employment Strategy • Scottish Government Youth Employment Strategy • Opportunities For All, • 16+ Choices

  5. Current Youth Activities/Responses • The Glasgow Guarantee • Youth Enterprize Zones • Youth Gateway • Activity Agreements • Wide range of Voluntary and third sector organisations supporting young people • Scottish and UK support – Skills development Scotland and Work Programme

  6. Money, Money, Money • Glasgow currently spends £54 million each year on supporting youth employability . • The new structural funds will pose new challenges as they will not come on stream until July 2014 • In addition there is also investment by national bodies such as Skills Development Scotland and Job Centre Plus and the DWP Programme. • Still money is getting tighter and harder to access – good that MG@W does not have a big budget and has not sought money.

  7. Lobbying/Decision Making Connections • MG@W in Glasgow has good connections • Political • Officer • Access to other stakeholders and partnerships

  8. Developing our Sustainable LAP • Already talking to key decision makers with regards to policies and what we are doing with MG@W – at the ULSG there is a good understanding of the policy landscape and fit. MG@W can help existing strategies and aims to be achieved. • The lead elected Member is kept appraised of MG@W as well as the lead officers. • Future resources – MG@W activity in Glasgow more about making better use of existing resources, changing attitudes and culture. • Need to continue raising awareness and the profile of MG@W and use the GFI outcomes/impact to do so.
