THE BASIC SEARCH…

The SPHS Library has oodles of information on every decade in history! Just go into Destiny and type in a search term like “Great Depression” or “Holocaust.” Also use broader search terms like “1920’s” or “1930’s.” Don’t forget to sort by call number to make it easier to find your book! It’s just as easy to type in “Steinbeck” or “Of Mice and Men.”

THE POWER SEARCH…

A faster way to get the search results you want is to use Destiny’s power search tool. Type in two to three terms at a time and the computer will search all the books in the library and give you the titles of the books that contain the three terms you typed in. For example, if you want a book about prohibition during the 1920’s, you would type in the terms “prohibition” and “1920’s” into the power search bars.

LOOK AROUND…

Most of the history books in our library are located in the 900’s section. The nonfiction 900’s (by the Community Room) and the reference 900’s deal with historical topics. Most of the books about literature are located in the 800’s and the reference 800’s. Social issues are in different areas; consult the online catalog.

Please take the time to peruse our entire collection! It’s fantastic!
