Communities do not need gifts, need OPPORTUNITIES.

Self-construction: Patrimonio Hoy • PatrimonioHoy • A program that offers the possibility to expand or improve housing through counseling and micro constructive readily available for the purchase of building materials. • Colombia:More than 15,000 Colombian families benefited, about 54,200 m2 built, nine years of operation, 15 offices nationwide. • Costa Rica:More than 700 families have benefited since 2008.

Self-construction: BloquerasSolidarias Bloqueras Solidarias • Initiative for families with income less than 2 minimum wages: • Produce concrete blocks for construction / expansion of their homes. • We provide: machinery, materials, knowledge transfer. • The community provides its workforce, in return receives 50% of production. The rest is sold to ensure sustainability. • In Colombia we have 4 locations: Payandé and Guamo(Tolima), Armenia and Tebaida ,Quindío). 120 families were beneficiaries. • Over 200,000 were produced blocks.

  7. Self-construction:Community Infrastructure • Colombia:We donated building materials and link to local municipalities and volunteers from the company to improve the conditions of neighboring schools.Panama: Work emblematic Buenos Aires road - CalzadaLarga. Through an agreement Government - CEMEX, were paved road 11 km, with an investment of approximately U.S. $ 12 million.Costa Rica:CEMEX joins the campaign to support the government in the reconstruction of schools in Guanacaste after the quake.Guatemala: Construction of two speed bumps to benefit the community pedestrian circulation and dust reduction. This work benefits the communities around Arizona and Suquite Plant.

Self-construction: CEMEX Community Centers • Spaces for training and recreation: • Non-formal education systems, music, dance, swimming, aerobics, crafts. • Colombia: 2 locations in Payandé (Tolima) and Tunjuelo (Bogota) to 2,500 beneficiaries monthly. • Costa Rica:CEMEXbuilt Patarrá Ground Community Center, and community halls are used Abangares training.

Self-construction: Sports Schools • Promoting sport activities we contribute with the integral development of the children: • Colombia:CEMEX contributes with: coach, uniforms, equipment and tournament registrations. They have 8 sports schools (Payandé, Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, La Calera, Cali, Cartagena, Apulo, The Star) with more than 1,000 children and young people benefit in sports like soccer, swimming, basketball and dance. • Panama: More than 60 children have been beneficiaries. Besides sports classes they offered lectures that promote respect, teamwork, responsibility, etc.

  10. Management of communities: ANSPAC • ANSPAC National Association for Personal Achievement: • Colombia: For more than 10 years has been supporting CEMEX ANSPAC activities. Collect 70 women, single mothers, in La Calera and Cúcuta. • Crafts courses and education in values​​. • Panama:The program began in 2012, 40 women have graduated. In 2012 participated in the program 38 women. • Costa Rica:More than 3,000 women trained since 2007 (600/year).

  11. Management of communities: Training • Colombia:Agreements with SENA: technical training courses and technologists. About 650 people trained. • Costa Rica:AbangaresAdime: Group of women entrepreneurs who collect more than 15 tons per month of solid waste for recycling and reuse. • SME-uniform: Group of women currently in training to manufactureCemex uniforms for CEMEX.

Management of Communities: Construction Supervisor training • Colombia.: Since 2007, there is an agreement with the Javeriana University. • 136 Construction Supervisor graduates in six promotions. • Objective: To contribute to the academic and professional development of Construction Supervisor

Environmental training aimed for children in the communities. • Objective: To raise awareness in your community in conservation and recycling. • Environmental lookouts and patrol 480 national ecological. • Participation in reforestation. • Panama: Activity 'parking in a safe environment' in conjunction with ANAM. Promotes environmental awareness among children. 150 children helped in the Site, Tres Palmas, San Pablo and Villa Nueva. • Planting seedlings in schools: we bring our nursery seedlings for environmental awareness activities into three neighboring schools (Streaky Light, Domingo Romero and Caimitillo Center).

  15. Environmental management • Colombia. We increased the percentage of alternative fuel substitution. From 6.1% to 35.6% in 2012. • We begin the second stage of replacing fossil fuels with alternative to developing a new CDM project in Cucuta. • Two cement operations certified to ISO 14001. • Our cement plant in Santa Rosa, one of the clinker substitution factures highest in the industry: 65% • 100% of our concrete operations with water recycling systems. • In concrete plant Morato (Bogota) were used over 3,800 m3 of wastewater from processes Meals (ice cream production company, our plant neighbor in that sector). • We continue our efforts to recover ancient quarries: ChingazaFiscala. • Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala. Reforestation campaign in the clinker dome facilities, involving 75 children and 7 teachers of the school Suquite were planted 75 fruit trees native to the region. Promoting environmental awareness. • Costa Rica. Recycling programs, environmental education, rehabilitation of quarries, use of alternative fuels and communal cleaning walks.

  16. Environmental management (Clean Development Mechanisms) • Colombia:Caracolito plant: partial substitution (10%) of fossil fuel (coal), by biomass (rice hulls). • Reduction of 115,000 tons of CO2 since 2008 (out of 23,000 fleet vehicles for one year). • In 2008 was approved by the MVYDT in Colombia and endorsed by the UN. • CEMEX ranked among companies implementing CDM (Kyoto.) • Our goal: to increase the use of alternative fuels by 25% by 2015 and implement CDM in other operations.

  17. Education and training • Panama:CEMEX Padrino Program: More than 190 children are supported with academic inputs and 62 volunteers participating in the program. Caimitillo School Center, Domingo Romero, San Pablo and Villa Nueva, El Higo. • ‘Improving my school’ (six schools benefited): Caimitillo Center, Streaky CEFACEI Light, New Caimitillo, Domingo Romero, San Pablo and Villa Nueva, El Higo.

  18. Panama:Primary Day: A program that provides medical care, pediatrics, immunization and nutrition to our neighboring communities. Started in 2013 in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MOH), over 1200 people have already been benefited. • School Health Program: general medical care and dentistry to children in schools. They will benefit more than 400 children in 2013. Program in cooperation with the MOH. • Fumigation: Since 2012 we extended the floor plan Bayanospraying into the surrounding communities and neighboring schools.
