  2. TECHNICAL READING Very specific information Usually includes illustrations and visuals to clarify and reinforce

  3. EXAMPLES OF TECHNICAL READING • Instructions • Manuals • Directions • Reports • Spreadsheets

  4. SKILLS NEEDED FOR UNDERSTANDING TECHNICAL READING • Following step-by-step instructions • Understanding brief phrases or incomplete sentences • Problem-solving capacity

  5. SEQUENTIAL • Arranged in order or in sequence • Logical flow or progression

  6. ACRONYMS • An abbreviation formed by initial (first) letters • ISS = In School Suspension

  7. DIAGRAM • Helps you see how something works • Read the title • Read each label • Look at the parts • Follow arrows and numbers
