  1. Lisa Rhoads Renaissance Woman

  2. Greetings! My name is Lisa. I have inhabited this wonderful planet called Earth for 52 years. My goal in life is to surround myself with positive, kind people. Life is too short to deal with grouchketeers. What keeps me going each day is my faith in God and the power of prayer. My ability to put a happy face on in the morning keeps me positive. My ability to take off the happy face at home keeps me sane.

  3. All About Lisa My Family Pay The Bills Life Enhancing Activities Retirement Career

  4. My Family My son, Geoff, is a musician. He plays piano and guitar. He also sings and composes music. My dog, Snickers, is a nine year old Yorkshire Terrier.

  5. Pay The Bills • Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas • Work with mainframe computers • Data transmissions using TCP/IP and SNA • In computer field for 33 years • Learning to work with Unix • VI is just not as user-friendly as TSO.

  6. Life Enhancing Activities I am a voracious reader. My favorite authors are Stephen King, Piers Anthony, Jude Deveraux, and Sandra Hill. I have over 1000 books in my library. I also collect old books. My oldest books were written in 1921. They are a series about these 4 women who ride around in motor cars. I like to compare the writing styles of authors from the 20s to authors of today.

  7. Life Enhancing Activities I love to make beaded jewelry. I had a business for a short time called Diddum’s Dream Designs. My speciality was watch bands made with Swarovski crystals. I also made crystal rosary bracelets and sold them at my church, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Now I just make jewelry for friends and family.

  8. Life Enhancing Activities I like to sing. I used to sing in the choir at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. I love to sing the traditional hymns and pieces written by Bach, Beethoven and Mozart.

  9. Life Enhancing Activities I like to travel. I have been to Manila, Philippines. They have some interesting vehicles in the Philippines.

  10. Life Enhancing Activities I have also been to Great Britain. This is one of the many castles in Wales, Scottish shaggy cows and a home somewhere in England.

  11. Life Enhancing Activities For one year, I volunteered with the Plano Library as an English tutor. I tutored two elderly Chinese women in English. It was life enhancing in that I got to learn about life in China without visiting. I had a challenging time explaining English idioms to them. They each had their own way of pronouncing English words and we had fun learning the correct way to speak English. Well, the way Texans speak English anyway. 

  12. Life Enhancing Activities I graduated from Collin College in the spring of 2009. I was 51 years old. I had decided to go back to college two years before and get a degree. After getting previous college credits transferred, I discovered that I didn’t have a lot of classes to take to get my degree. I worked and studied hard and gave up some of my extracurricular activities. But my hard work paid off in that I graduated Cum Laude. It was a very life changing time for me.

  13. Life Enhancing Activities I started at the University of North Texas in the fall of 2009. It was scary going to big girl school after graduating from community college. I wasn’t sure what it was going to be like, but I was ready to plunge into the higher world of academia. What I discovered was the classes were about the same difficulty as community college, but the student population was a lot younger. I hope to graduate in the spring of 2012 with a degree in English and a concentration in Technical Writing.

  14. Life Enhancing Activities I had a full knee replacement done on May 3rd, 2010. I hope it will be life enhancing when I’m fully healed. It has been a journey these last few weeks. One week after my surgery, I took the final for one of my online spring classes. The following week, I started this Maymester class. So here I’ve been the last couple of weeks. Lying in the recliner, vegged out on hydrocodone, with my laptop on my stomach, doing homework and taking quizzes. Since I’m stuck at home, I guess it is good to get another onlline class out of the way.  Hopefully, I’ll get to drive in another week or so.

  15. Retirement Career My goal is to do contract work as a technical editor after I retire from the Fed. I would also like to teach English to our immigrants. I believe this is a great way to help immigrants enrich their lives.
