  2. Introduction Presidents Day is always celebrated on the third Monday of February. This year we will be celebrating our former Presidents on February 21, 2011! • Who were these men? • What did they do? • Where were they born? • Why are they important to our country? • From what years did they serve as President? • Can you find any interesting facts about them? Please help to bring these Presidents back to life in our classroom and see what information you can dig up!

  3. Your Job!(The Task) • From a given list choose ONE former President to research. With your information you will create a campaign poster, write a one page biography and give a 3 – 5 minute presentation. *You will be given a list of reliable websites to use.

  4. ProcessStep 1 It is time to pick your President to research! Look at the list of Presidents on this website: http://www.ipl.org/div/potus/ Be ready with your top two choices of Presidents to research. You will tell me your choices in class tomorrow and be assigned one of your two choices if possible. Remember: Everyone will be researching a different President!

  5. Step 2 • Next, find out important information about your President. Consider the following questions to get you started….. • From what years did he serve as President? • When and where was he born? • What did he do to contribute to the United States when he was President? • What political party did he belong to? • What state was he from? **Challenge – How many interesting or unusual facts can you find on the President you are researching? - Make sure you include them to earn BONUS POINTS! **

  7. Step 3 Great! You have found a ton of information on the President you are researching! Now it is time to write the biography on your President. Make sure you include the following information AND any other facts you discovered! • Presidents Name • Years Serving As President • Political Party – Democratic or Republican? • When and Where He Was Born • Contributions ** Don’t forget to include any interesting or fun facts you found! 

  8. Step 4 As you know, good campaign posters are a part of gaining votes to win the Presidential election. Make a campaign poster for the President you are researching. Include the following on your poster… • Name of President • Picture – You may either draw the picture or use pictures printed from the internet. • Political Party – Democratic or Republican • Campaign Slogan

  9. Step 5 It is now time to get your presentation ready for the class. Use the information about the President you researched for the biography paper. ** Don’t forget your presentation needs to be 3-5 minutes long. You will need to show your campaign poster to the class at this time.

  11. Conclusion Awesome Job! You have successfully completed your Presidential WebQuest journey! You have learned about many of the former Presidents of The United States of America. Learning about past Presidents is an important part of history! Don’t forget that on the third Monday of February we honor these men for the great work they did for this country. I hope you have enjoyed diving back into history!
