  1. Red – Mini P+H HOW TO USE ‘Mini’ Performance and health RED Revision v98+document revision: 1

  2. overview • As with most plugins we have: • iPad view / input for participants • Plugin for Red that gathers the results and visualises the groups results • A database (and admin) running on the Red Webserver

  3. DESCRIPTION • With Mini P+H all participants will grade the 9 dimensions of health according to ‘Ailing’ Able and Elite on their iPad. • It shows them the P+H grid and basic analysis can be done on the ‘Axis’ of P+H • In Red, we can look at the aggregate results, much like on the iPad only for the whole group

  4. PARTICIPANT CONTROLS FLOW • As a modern plugin for Red: • participants can continuously update their data at own leisure. • Data is sent as soon as is possible to prevent dataloss • Has capacity of restarting and reloading for individuals • All data inserts are fully checked (bit slower, but prevent data corruption) • Is easy to use for Users and Navigators

  5. ICON On IPAD FOR PAX • Make sure the icon shows up when you need it using the control / activities interface (see Activities manual). • For reference the activites values are: • Name: *anything* • Label: Mini P+H • Icon: ../pandh/control_icon.png • URL: ../pandh/index.php?id=# • Ideally you would set a specific ID here, although the system will default to ‘active’ sessions. Using specific ID is ALWAYS preferred. • Use the plugin to create a new session • State: 1 (active) -> but this can easily be modified by the admin view

  6. 1. EXPLAIN participants THE PROCESS ! • Grade each dimension by looking at the text provided for your current situation • When all answered , continue to look at your own ‘9 boxes’ and see what axis you are good / bad at • Optionally check group status on iPad • In Red, as group, look at emerging themes using 9 Boxes and Axis comparison • Optionally compare with industry dataset

  7. 2. SHOW participants on what the will see on The Ipads • As with ANY iPad activity is important to show participants what the user interaction will be like. • Use the screenshots provided in the htdocs\pandh\assets\screenshotsfolder to prep the Red presentation so you can easily refer to this. • This plugin looks best in Landscape mode due to the heavy text • Due to time constraint the theme should be black (easy to switch using CTRL+T)

  8. 3. Basic setup • Add the plugin in Red : • World > Context menu > Insert > Performance and Health • It’s OK to ‘preload’ as the connection the backend needs to be initiated when people actually start using it.

  9. 4. Basic setup #2 • Select the plugin and press ‘Z’ so it is focused full screen. • P+H was designed with minimum resolution of 1280x720. • The first ‘screen’ is a screenshot of the iPads.

  10. 5. WHERE is the data coming from? • The plugin and iPads needs to know where it will get it’s data from. • There are a few options some of which are simpler then other. • This is related to the ‘Control’/’Activities’ part so I will do the normal – correct procedure ONLY.

  11. 5. DATASET ID in Red Must mATCH ID IN ACTIVITIES • There can be multiple ‘instances’ or datasets of the P+H. • Each one has a unique ID (i.e. 1,2.,3…). • In order for things to work both plugin and ipads must be working from same dataset (and same ID). • On the iPad this ID is set using the activities/control URL (see other manual), • In Red the Plugin must load the correct Session (with that ID).

  12. 6. Creating a new session • First create a new session using the context menu • Performance and Health > Create new session. • This will create a new session in the database, automatically loads it. • You can do this well before the workshop. It simply generates a new Dataset with Matching ID.

  13. 6.b. NAMING a new session • Using the context menu, > Change Settings • Change the name field – if you so wish. It is not needed.

  14. 7. What is the new DATASET ID? • Simply use the context menu to see which session you have created. It will be the bottom one, but check the date to make sure. The number before is the ID of the available dataset Dataset #ID

  15. 8. UPDATING ACTIVITIES SO Dataset is correct for the IPADS • This means you need to set the URL of the Mini P+H activity in this case to: • ../pandh/index.php?session_id=3. • Use the control manual for more detail until the nicer backend is finished. • When a user now presses the Mini P+H it will work with this Dataset

  16. 8. JUST BEFORE ACTIVITY • Check we are connected to the correct set # • Check dataset is clear of test data

  17. 8. LOADING DATASET IN RED • On The red side of things use the context menu to load the correct session (i.e. the one that matches the activity ID). Dataset #ID

  18. 8. RESET DATASET • Empty the dataset (unless you wish to continue an existing one of course) • Use the context menu > Session > #Yoursession > Reset. • Now ‘activate’ the activity.

  19. 9. DIMENSION CAPTURE • Normally the first thing people will see is this screen. • Simply tap the correct ‘value. • After each it will progress to the next dimension • All data is sent immediately to the backend

  20. 10. DIMENSION CAPTURE DONE • After all 9 the right arrow will light up to continue. • At ANY stage a participant can change all the data. Will light up when ready.

  21. 11. GrID Overview • Data is reformatted to show it in the 9 boxes Can always go back. Highlight specifc clusters

  22. 12. CLUSTER SELECTIONS • Using the cluster selections you can view the separate parts in detail. Highlight specifc clusters

  23. 13. Group Graph • A ‘test’ view on all the pax data can be shown on the group view. • However this is a bit ‘unrefined’ Go back to 9 Boxes view

  24. 14. LoADING FROM PREVIOUS STATE • It might be that the iPad has already have data in the database for this iPad (e.g. the session was not ‘empty’). Or the application was shutdown. • This allows a participant to continue or start afresh.

  25. 15. DIMENSION CAPTURE IN RED • When you load a session it will automatically connect and start updating. Number indicates completed participants. Only complete participants are taken into account How many people have finished. Plugin is realt-time so no need to wait, but recommend to wait a bit Press to go to overview

  26. 16. 9 Boxes view - Normal • Each box gets calculated an average percentage. (still a bit untested at to correct values) • (ailing: 0 points • Able: 1 point • Elite: 2 points) • Colouring is in buckets (3 colours only) Cluster selection

  27. 17. DETAIL view - SINGLE • When you double click on a box you will see the number of votes for each ‘bucket’ (ailing, able, elite). • Double click to go back to normal

  28. 18. DETAIL view – CLUSTER / ALL • Using cluster selections you can show the detail views for clusters or all. • This are generally the best views as they cannot be misinterpreted in any way!. Cluster selection

  29. 19. 9 Boxes view - GRADIENT • Each box gets calculated an average percentage. (still a bit untested at to correct values) • Colours are a sliding scale matching the percentages. • This didn’t seem to be used. Gradient / Bucket toggle

  30. 20. SELECTING Graph view • Select the graph view using the tiny graph (in fact it will also live update) Graph toggle

  31. 21. Graph view #2 • Here is the group view as a graph • It is already possible to add industry comparisons but you need to create an .xml file with the correct values or use a previous ‘PerformanceAndHealth’ xml file (see export) • As the current ‘percentages’ are still ‘unclear’ I would not recommend it.

  32. 21. STOPPINg A SESSION • Since the plugin is real-time is continuously loads data from the server: this could lead to performance issues. • So if you are finished with the interactive part: • Context Menu > Disconnect (this stops the realtime update, you may always ‘Connect’ later on)

  33. 22. EXPORT A SESSION • Using the context menu you can save as: • .XLS • Screenshot • PerformanceAndHealth. (use this to share with other sessions OR to compare 2 sessions in the graph view)

  34. 22. DELETE A SESSION • Using the context menu you can delete a session: • A backup will be made in case of disasters  • The backup can be found in htdocs\pandh\database and you should find a file called …. _delete with the correct time on it.
