  3. Agenda JOIN THE CLUB TODAY • Checks to “Carnegie Mellon” for $15 or cash • If you forgot checkbook, you can drop off checks with Taylor Davidson trd@andrew.cmu.edu Members should send Taylor their resume ASAP to get on club website and be a part of recruiting activities

  4. Real Estate Club Club is for students that are either: 1)   Interested in learning the fundamentals of personal investing in property such as buying a house 2) Interested in a real estate or related career (i.e. banking)

  5. Real Estate Club • Real estate knowledge is necessary in every career and almost all of you will want to buy a house or invest in property • There are tons of real estate related jobs regardless of economy (3 of 20 members last year received offers directly through the club) • Our Dean is an icon in mortgage backed securities

  8. Events • Home Buying Workshop: Kickoff Event September Prudential Real Estate, Dollar Bank, and Negotiations guru Don Moore - Mistakes made - First time home buyer options - Financing options - Working with broker, negotiating purchase

  9. Events • PNC Real Estate Finance November - Portfolio Risk Management - Regulatory issues & corporate governance at PNC - The role of the commercial bank in an industry that is increasingly impacted by capital markets and the availability of information.

  10. Events • Andrew Stewart of Silke Stewart December - How Andrew became a mini “Carleton Sheets” with properties in Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Toronto - Analyze their deal sheets on properties and things to look for when looking to speculate or buy apartment complexes

  11. Events • Dean Kenneth B Dunn January - Details on his work with Mortgage Backed Securities at GSIA, Miller Andersen, & Morgan Stanley - His insights on real estate - Q&A with Dean focusing on real estate and his professional experiences

Real Estate Classes • Real Estate Urban Development and Demographics classes (Heinz) • Undergrad Real Estate Finance Economic Design • Brownfield Redevelopment course • Goal: Have real estate classes in MBA program - Every top MBA program has real estate courses and/or a concentration in real estate
