KinderLab Robotics’ KIBO Makes STEAM Learning Fun

KinderLab Robotics provides educators with innovative robot toys for young children. Designed

for kids aged 4-7 years, the company’s KIBO robot kits are the fruit of more than 20 decades of

research involving educational technologies. KIBO allows kids to exercise their imaginations and

have fun while discovering important scientific concepts like coding.

KinderLab Robotics actively works to make STEAM learning easy and fun. Over the past two

months (January and February 2018), the KinderLab team organized and participated in events

across the United States, including:

The 2018 Future of Education Technology Conference in Orlando, Fla.

2018 TCEA Convention and Exposition in Austin, Tex.

A special KIBO presentation at South Kearns Elementary in Kearns, Utah

People interested in checking out KinderLab Robotics’ KIBO educational robot will get

numerous opportunities in the coming months. The company’s co-founder and chief scientist,

Dr. Marina UmeschiBers, will give the keynote speech at EDUCON2018 at Santa Cruz de

Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain on April 18th. Dr. Bers will also be a keynote speaker at ISTE 2018

in Chicago, Ill. on June 23rdand supervise the program “Coding as a Playground: ScratchJr +

KIBO Robotics” at the Pathfinders Summer Institiute 2018 at Indiana University Bloomington on

July 15-20.

KinderLab Robotics’ flagship product, the KIBO, is the result of years of research led by Dr. Bers

at Tufts University’s Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development. The

robot kit is intended for children from Preschool and Kindergarten to the 2nd Grade. Young

learners can use the KIBO kits’ programming blocks, motors, wheels on other components to

build their own fully functioning robot.

KinderLab can provide teachers with curriculum materials that make it easy to bring robotics

into the classroom. The KIBO Curriculum integrates:

Programming/Computational Thinking

Building/Engineering Design Process

Curricular Theme

Curriculum materials include lessons plans and play-based activities. KinderLab Robotics also

offers professional development workshops for educators, technology specialists and program

coordinators.
