  2. The Blessing of Children Children Are Gifts From God • Jacob said God gave his children to him. Genesis 33:4-5 But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him (Jacob), and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, "Who [are] these with you?" So he said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."

They provided food, and oil for light, flavoring, and medicinal purposes. Animals were fed pressed olive pulp. The olive plant was a joy to the home. Children, like olive plants, are of great value and provide much joy to the family. The olive plant took seventeen years to mature.
