  2. Getting too know today’s computer! • why it is important for you to be very familiar with how a computer works and what it can do.  A computer is simply a machine that is programmed to follow instructions.  Computers in today's world can perform thousands of tasks.

  3. Services On The Internet • the World Wide Web is the Internet, it is only one of many services found on the Internet. • Online Muli-Player Gaming • Internet Relay Chat(IRC) • Video Conferencing • Electronic Mail (e-mail)

Web Security • Web Trackingweb site makes a record of your visit, and possibly other sites you have visited,it’s called web tracking. • VirusesA program designed to replicate and spread to as many computers as possible is a Virus. They can be immediately visible or be working unseen on your computer for months. There are many types of viruses.

  5. Searching the Web • Search Engines This method of searching uses software programs that search the web and record information. • DirectoriesDirectory-based searches use people to search the web for similar web sites, they then place them in a directory.

  6. Web Content • Who’s behind the web page?For a long time, what was published in print media was nearly always true and reliable. When a publishing house or major newspaper sends a story to print, they have fact checkers make sure the story is accurate.

  7. The Future of the World Wide Web • It will be almost impossible to predict what the Web will be like in the future. • 1) More and more people will use the web. • 2) The Web will get faster and faster. • 3) The Web will grow continually grow more wireless.
