AOL's Netscape Sues Microsoft • Filed in May of 1998 by the Justice Department and 20 states (one dropped out, however) • Alleged Microsoft used its monopoly power to put down Netscape • Government’s argument was that Microsoft believed Netscape could one day take over. • Netscape wanted to get Microsoft to sell an operating system that did not include the web browser. • Important case because it could change the entire market and the competition leaders.
