  3. Some nouns name a special person, place, thing, or animal. These nouns are called proper nouns, and they begin with a capital letter. Tennessee Sam New York City

  4. People often have special titles that show respect for who they are or for the work they do. When a person’s special title is written with their name, use a capital letter at the beginning of the special title. Let’s look at some special titles. Officer Smith Mr. Vance Dr. Darby Principal Forgety Mrs. Ingle

  5. When you write, it sounds better to use people’s names and special titles. The officer helped me. Officer Smith helped me.
