  2. What They Do • Convert mechanical energy into electrical energy • Generator pushes a certain amount of electrons to supply a certain amount of power.

  3. One of the First Generators • The first generator was called the Dynamo. • Invented in 1827

  4. Michael Faraday • Discovered electromagnetic induction in 1831 • From his experiments came the electric motor, generator, and transformer.

  5. How It Works • A magnet spins inside a coil of wire, moving the electrons through the wire • A generator forces an electric charge through an electric circuit, it doesn’t create electricity.
