  22. Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack, who lived with his mother in the forest. One day his mother said: “Go and sell the cow and bring the money to me.” The story

  23. So Jack took the cow and sold it to a man who gave him five magic beans. Jack’s mum was very cross with him and she threw the beans out of the window.

  24. The next day Jack saw a beanstalk and he climbed and he climbed and he climbed to the top. There he saw a castle. Inside he met a little old woman. Suddenly she cried: “Look out! The giant is coming and he will eat you up!”

  25. Jack hid in the cupboard. He saw the giant count his money. Soon the giant went to sleep. Jack took the money and climbed back down the beanstalk.

  26. Next Jack wanted to go back. So he climbed and he climbed and he climbed to the top. And he saw the little old woman again. “Quick hide!” she shouted. The giant is angry’ “Fee Fi Fo Fum I smell the blood of an English man!” roared the giant. Jack hid in the cupboard. He saw the giant had a magic harp that started to play.

  27. Soon the giant went to sleep. Jack took the magic harp and started to climb back down the beanstalk.

  28. Suddenly the little old woman shouted: “Run, the giant is behind you!” Jack climbed and he climbed and he climbed back down the beanstalk. Finally Jack shouted to his mum: “Quick, get the axe!”

  29. They chopped and they chopped and they chopped. And that was the end of the giant. Jack and his mum lived happily ever after.
