Margins • Use the Margins feature to change the amount of blank space at the top, bottom, right, and left edges of the paper • File menu, Page Setup
Line Spacing • Use the Line Spacing feature of the software to change the amount of white space left between lines of text • Format menu, Paragraph
Line Spacing continued • CTRL + 1 = Single space, enter 1 time • CTRL + 2 = Double space, enter 2 times, leaves one blank line • CTRL + 5 = One and half space • Quadruple Space = enter 4 times, leaves three blank lines
Widow/Orphan Control • Widow/Orphan feature ensures that the first line of a paragraph does not appear by itself at the bottom of a page (orphan line) or that the last line of a paragraph does not appear by itself at the top of a page (widow line) • Format menu, Paragraph, Line and Page Breaks
Indent • Use the indent feature to move text away from the margin • A left indent (paragraph indent) moves the text one tab stop to the right, away from the left margin • A hanging indent moves all but the first line of a paragraph one tab stop to the right • Format menu, Paragraph
