  3. Who did Christopher Sail for??? • He Sailed for Spain. • What was the motive behind him sailing? To Spread holiness and wealth • The boats that the King and Queen provided him with were the; Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria

  4. When did Christopher sail?? • Sailed years of 1492-1506 • Christopher Columbus sailed 5 voyages throughout his life for Spain

  5. Impact • Columbus found Cuba and the West Indies • Columbus claimed the island of San Salvador • Columbus gave American-Indians to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand to use as slaves • And while he was there looked for gold

  6. Colonies of Hispaniola In 1493 Columbus returned to the Caribbean and set up a Spanish colony on the island of Hispaniola. But a Indian tribe was all ready there, their name was thee Arawaks. Columbus believed that the Arawaks were very gentle, the Arawaks said they wanted to cause no harm and wanted peace with the Europeans. But the sailors didn’t. The sailors stole from the Arawaks. And many sailors took the Arawaks back to Spain and sold them as slaves. The Arawaks also caught European diseases which their body could not fight and they would die from it. 50 years after Columbus’s arrival nearly all the Arawaks of Hispaniola were dead.
