  2. What do we need to consider? They are used by many students Don’t rearrange, delete apps, put on accounts etc. They are fragile – handle with care Keep your hands clean and sanitized Plugging the ipad in to charge can be tricky – know the secret! Don’t touch the iPad when others are using it. Remember -Be safe and responsible with the technology Only use the apps your teachers assigns you to use

  3. iPad General Any problems with an iPad – report to your teacher to do an IT Direct for technical help. Only use email on the iPadto email your teacher. If you have a cart: All ipads need to face the same way – numbers on top and readable Plug-in the ipads at the end of the day (maybe 2 helpers)

  4. Turn on iPad Press the Home button on the bottom to turn on There are 2 cameras – the back camera takes better pictures.

  5. More Features The volume buttons are important on the side. You can use your headphones to plug-in to the ipad.

  6. Apps Apps will be pushed out from the Technology office via the Airwatch program. Teachers may download apps from the App Catalog or App Store. Under NO circumstances are students to login with a personal apple ID on these iPads Under NO circumstances are students to download any apps unless instructed by your teacher. Do not accept Push Notifications

  7. Accepting Apps from Airwatch Please click on Update or Install if you see this message The password you will need is (put your school password here) Please do not cancel the download

  8. Airwatch--Password to update and install Your school password to install apps here. Press the shift key two times fast to lock the shift key then turn it off by pressing once to type the rest of the password

  10. Typing on an iPad There are 3 different keyboards on the ipad SEARCH ipad - Tap the Home button to get to your first home screen, and then either tap it again or swipe to reveal spotlight. Editing Text – position insertion point –hold finger

  11. Camera • Shooting Video and Pictures – holding the iPad correctly -if you are holding the iPad –Have the Home Button to your right so video is upright and proportionally correct – needs to look like a TV screen • Capturing an iPad Screen – Home + Sleep Wake Button

  12. Photos-camera roll, albums. . . Go into Photos To make an album, choose Albums Click + Add the name of the folder your teacher wants you to add Click Save Always save any pictures you take to this folder. Photos will show up in the camera roll and this album, but with multiple students using the iPad, it is easier to find your pictures, if you have an album. Deleting pics from the camera roll, also deletes them from the albums.

  13. Contacts For iPads that have a generic student google email set up on them for any student in class to be able to email products to the teacher. . . To add a teacher contact: • Click on Contacts • Find the + sign on the middle bottom • Type in Teacher’s First Name • Type in Teacher’s Last Name • Skip Company\mobile • Under home email type: name@student.mtnbrook.k12.al.us

  14. Teacher Email The teacher’s email account has been disabled while you are using the Class iPadper our policy. You will not be able to access your teacher’s school email account. Do not attempt to access or add an email account to this Class iPad. Your teacher will be able to access her email to send herself pictures or links to products you create on this iPad.

  15. Doodle Buddy We are going to explore an app called Doodle Buddy (The first time you go to an app that can add images, the ipad will ask if that app has permission to access your photo album. Say Yes, or you won’t be able to add photos from the photo album to that app.) Search for it on the home screen – press the home key and swipe – Type in Doodle Buddy Let’s explore for a few minutes – NO EXTRAS 0r PUSH Notifications

  16. Doodle Buddy • We are going to create a math story problem(fill in your own numbers) • I have ___Gingerbread cookies. I give ___ away. How many do I have left? • Illustrate and write on your problem. • Click the wrench and save to photo album.

E-mail to your teacher If you have a generic student google email on your iPad, click on the wrench at the bottom: Choose SEND in EMAIL SAVE your drawing Change the subject to have your login# and math Subject: 2022abc1 math problem Email to your teacher (start typing email address and contacts should pop up) TO: teachername@student.mtnbrook.k12.al.us Press send

  18. Turning off iPads Go back to the Home screen Organize or delete any pictures you don’t need that you took Leave the screen on the Home Screen Press the sleep button to put the iPad to sleep Plug in your iPad

  19. Presenting from the iPad If you have Apple TV: Double click the home button and slide the bar that appears to the right. Click the AirPlay icon that appears and choose your Apple TV Name. Turn on mirroring. If you need a password, your teacher will type it in. If you have a VGA adapter. Plug your iPad into the adapter which is connected to your projector.

  20. Taking Turns with the iPad Our plan on your using our Class iPad is . . . Each week 5 students will have a job of the week. During the first 5-10 minutes of class, one of those students will complete his/her job. Two students will use the iPad during our Center Time. We will have three center times each day. By the end of the week, all students will have used the iPad to practice a skill or to work on creating a project.
