  • For both populations

    • Core materials (syllabi, Agency policies and procedures, mandatory professional materials)

    • Patient teaching materials

    • Virtual communication/consultation with faculty and home care nurse experts

  • For Community Health Nursing Students, full texts and videos (for assignments)

  • For VNA of Boston clinicians, resources for current evidence-based practices and teaching tools

Why a web based technology
Why a web-based technology?

  • Goal of the Center: to use technology to advance the care of patients recovering from acute illness or managing chronic illnesses in their homes

  • Student demand: Evaluations from Community Health Nursing Students requested more online assignments

  • Scalability: NU 261- Community Health Clinical Lab – has 8 sections using sites all over the greater Boston area


  • VNAB converted to an Electronic Medical Record in 2004-2005; all clinicians now have Lap Top Computers

  • IDES Faculty Summer Workshop program
