  1. Hyperbole A figure of speech that uses exaggeration to express strong emotion, to make a point, or to evoke humor. An extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally.

  2. Example of Hyperbole He was so hungry, he could eat a horse. Hyperbole because it is gives the impression that he is really hungry, yet he is not literally going to eat a horse.

  3. Example of Hyperbole My sister uses so much makeup, she broke a chisel trying to get it off last night! This hyperbole gives us the impression that she wears too much makeup, but isn’t actually taking it off with a chisel.

  4. Hyperbole -- Examples I’m so sad, I could cry a river.

  5. Example of Hyperbole My teacher is so old, she personally taught William Shakespeare! This explains to us that she is an extremely old lady. Shakespeare was born in 1564 which tells us the teacher is old but obviously not as old as Shakespeare.

  6. Where is the Hyperbole?

  7. Hyperbole- Romeo and JulietAct 1, Scene 1- When Romeo is in deep love with Roseline, but then when he sees Juliet he forgets all about Roseline and goes right for Juliet.
