Identify and prioritise key logistics opportunities and challenges for the chemical industry, and it develops and steers a strategy and action programme to address these, taking into account legal, political and company boundaries. Cefic Pan-European Public Opinion Survey (PES) 2010 Perception of Transportation of Chemicals • 11 countries / 1,000 people in each country • • 81% coverage of EU27 population • Public perception of chemical transport is better than general chemical industry image • Majority of people recognize the need for transport and agree that most transport companies show a responsible behaviour • There is low awareness of industry transport safety initiatives • Most important concerns: safety / accidents / hazardous products • Public perception is better in North Europe than in South Europe • Rail transport is the preferred transport mode
