  18. System Protocol

Bone Marrow Collection ThermoGenesis Recommended Protocol • Rinse all syringes, aspiration needles and stylets with heparin solution (1000 μ/ml). • Ensure that the heparin solution has coated the entire marrow contacting surfaces. • Remove any remaining heparin from the syringe. • Aspirate the bone marrow into each 60 ml aspiration syringe. • Aspirate approximately 55cc’s of bone marrow, leaving space for mixing. • Transfer marrow to second syringe with 5mls of ACDA anticoagulant. • Gently rock the syringe from side to side 20 times to mix the anticoagulant.

  21. ResQ BMC Procedure Remove red cap from filter Remove Clear caps from device and filter(Save clear cap) Connect filter to device Connect marrow syringe to filter Insert marrow (slowly)

  22. Procedure Reconnect clear cap Place in Centrifuge Transfer out of sterile field Don’t forget the counter- balance!

  23. Procedure Transfer to Processing Tray Centrifuge for 12 min. @ 3200 RPM Transfer to Processing Tray

  30. System Maintenance

  31. Art 21 BMC Maintenance Processing Tray • Keep wells clear of particulate, fluid • Keep keypad clear of liquid • Wipe clean with dilute bleach after each use • Do not bring tray near items that can be impacted by a magnetic field

  32. Art 21 BMC Maintenance Centrifuge • Provide adequate ventilation • Keep carriers clean. Dilute bleach, isopropyl alcohol OK • Do not remove rotor without a technician • Replace carriers after 24 months of use • Emergency rotor chamber entry
