  2. Purpose: To investigate the chemical properties of substances that have similar physical properties. Materials: Spoons Well Plate Dropper bottles Toothpicks Water Vinegar Iodine Solution Baking Powder Baking Soda Cornstarch Sugar Safety: Wash your hands after the lab

  3. Procedure: • Add enough baking powder to three well of the well plate to cover the bottom. • Observe the physical properties and record in the unmixed column. • Add 10 mL of water and stir with a toothpick record your observations in the mixed with water column. • Add 20 drops of vinegar to the second cup, observe and record in the mixed with vinegar column. • Add 5 drops of iodine solution to the third cup of baking powder and stir, record your observations in the mixed with iodine column. • Repeat 1-6 with the baking soda, cornstarch and sugar. • In table 2 write the type of change you observed.
