  1. One of the easiest ways to spruce up your old outdoor dining furniture is to replace your old patio cushions. This seems like an easy enough task, until you start shopping for them. Outdoor patio sets come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. So how do you know which replacement cushions will fit your patio furniture? Follow these simple rules and you're on your way to a great new look in your garden that's easy on the pocket book.

  2. Before you get started with these instructions, note that your old patio cushions have probably flattened out over time, so make sure to reshape them to their original dimensions as much as possible. Likewise, make sure that you do not squeeze or press on them while you are taking their measurements. And last, but not least, your measurements should be from one edge to the other, not from seam to seam. With all that in mind, let's get started.

  3. First, measure the width of your current outdoor furniture cushion. That is, from right to left, remembering that you are measuring the space between the farthest edges, not the seams. Record this number. If you have a simple cushion that only has a seat, then measure the depth (from the front to the back) and record this number. If the cushion also includes a back, then take this measurement separately. Should your old outdoor furniture cushion also have a headrest, then be sure to take this measurement separately as well. These three measurements together will give you the total length of your cushion that is typically used for lounge chairs.
