Take a ways from Philippians • Paul had negative circumstances but was still positive. (ch1 vs13) • Paul was focused on the goal of doing God’s will and going to Heaven. (ch3 vs14) • Paul kept in his mind what Jesus did for Him. (ch2 vs5-9) • Paul knew what God did for him and knew God was with him. • Paul told them to focus on the positives. (ch4 vs8) • Paul knew how to be content, He knew that God was with him. (Ch4 vs11-13) • Be positive, be a light to this world. (ch2vs14-16)
The secrete to being positive is not • Does not mean never being sad. (Jesus wept, we cry when others cry, rejoice when others rejoice) (John 11:35)(Romans 12:15) • Does not mean pretend everything is ok when really you are suffering • Does not mean getting through rough times alone • Does not mean you won’t have sorrows, struggles, sins, regrets, fears, failures, mess-ups, and mistakes. • Putting hope in things that don’t matter
The secrete to being positiveis • Is focusing on God and how much He loves you. • Is remembering what Jesus did for you. • Is remembering all the times God picked you up when you fell • Is knowing God keeps His promises • Needing a savior who is with you 24/7, not just in a church building • Viewing life through the lenses of eternity • Being surrounded by good people (bad company corrupts good morals) • Doing God’s Will because it is the only thing that is externally fulfilling
Other notes • Satan wants to steal your joy • Satan wants you to keep your joy to yourself
