  4. Setup you microphone • Insert microphone into computer audio input • Make sure Sound control panel is not set to “Mute” • Start/settings/control panel/Sounds and Audio Devices

  5. Prepare PowerPoint • Put your PowerPoint file into a new folder • The files you record will also go into this folder • As you record each screen, PowerPoint will insert it and link your presentation to the new audio file. • While you could record all your slides with a single audio file, you have more editing options when recording for each slide separately. • The audio files must always go with the presentation. • (Just copy the folder wherever you need it) • Write your voice over script for your audio file into the notes page for each screen that you intend to record for. • Print out the “notes” page handout from your PowerPoint presentation

  6. Recording on a Slide 1 • Open your PowerPoint presentation • On the Outline tab or Slides tab in the normal view, select the slide you want to start the recording on. • On the Slide Show menu, click Record Narration

  7. Recording on a Slide 2 • Click Set Microphone Level and follow the directions • Select Link narrations in check box, and click Browse

  8. Recording on a Slide 3 • Click Change Quality and select setting “22.05, 16bit, mono” • Browse to the same folder that contains your PowerPoint file and click the Select button • Select Current Slide

Recording on a Slide 4 • The program will move to the Slide Show View and recording will begin. • To pause or resume while recording, right-click the slide and use it’s menu. • The “Escape” button on your computer will stop the recording for this screen. • The recording will be automatically saved with the presentation name and a sequential number. • The last dialog box has 2 options: • 1 set the auto slide transition based on the length of the audio recording • 2 do not set a slide transition timing based on the recording. • You can always modify the timing for a slide transition from the slideshow menu

  10. Recording on a Slide 5 • To re-record a slide • Delete the on slide “sound icon” • Delete the audio file from the folder • Begin the recording process again
