  2. In P3 we have been learning about St Davids day….

History of St DavidHe is the patron Saint of WalesHe was the heart of the Welsh church in the 6th CenturyHe came from an aristocratic family in WalesHis mother was a Saint (Saint Non) later the word Non became NunHis teacher was also a Saint- St PaulinusHe founded a large Monastery in WalesHe helped spread Christianity among pagan Celtic Tribes in Western BritainHe became Archbishop of WalesHis shrine became a place of pilgrimage

  4. The Leek Legend says St David ordered his soldiers to wear leeks in their helmets during a battle against the Saxons. In 1536 brave Welsh Archers fought in fields of leeks.

  5. Cawl is a Welsh meal. In modern Welsh the word is used to refer to a traditional Welsh soup

  6. In P3 we made some Cawl This soup contains different vegetables; Leeks, potatoes, onions. Here we are chopping and preparing the ingredients for our soup. It tasted yummy!!!!

  7. DAFFODIL – the national flower of Wales & is worn on St David’s day
