  1. Narayan Desai desai@mcs.anl.gov SSS Build & Configuration Management Update 1/2004

  2. Overview • Infrastructure Updates • Library Updates • Configuration and Management Components • Restriction Syntax Augmentations • Next

  3. Infrastructure Updates • Most updates minor bugfixes • Infrastructure has been reliable in production for ~6 months • Addition of component monitoring to service directory • Minor performance improvements

  4. Library Updates • Portability Improvements • Robust OSX support • 64-bit operation tested • Early Tru64 support • Thread-safety • SSL wire-protocol module • Implementation now well tested • Soon to be the default protocol in ssslib distribution

  5. Configuration Management Components • Node state manager • Relied upon on chiba city • Specification to be presented • Build System • Need to match the external configuration interface more closely with the underlying configuration management system • Current model artificially splits boot services from configuration services • Model needs refinement • Hardware Infrastructure • Need a clearer set of consumers of hardware and topology data • Model clearly needs refinement

  6. Restriction Syntax Augmentations • New operators implemented • Numeric operators • The much requested negation operator • Regular expression matching • Easy to implement more • Integrated into all components

  7. Next • Work on models and new implementations for hardware infrastructure and build system • Work on multiple implementations of BCM components • More wire protocol modules (if needed) • More portability fixes (if needed) • Performance tuning
