  3. Marquette founded Michigan's first European settlement. He also founded St. Ignace, Michigan.

  4. Louis Jolliet: Born Sept. 21, 1645Last seen May 1700 ( 55 years old ) Jolliet was a Canadian explorer. Jolliet was born in a French settlement near Quebec City. When he was seven his father died. Jolliet’s stepfather owned land on Ile d’Orleans. He spoke English, Spanish, and French.
