  1. (Eph4:1-6) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

  2. The Divisions • Chapters 1-3 Doctrine • Our position in Christ (1:1- 3:21) • Chapters 4-6 Practical • Our Life in the world (4:1- 6:9) • Our attitude to the enemy (6:10-24) EPHESIANS NOTES

  3. The Divisions • Just like in the Book of Rev. with the two events of the opening of a door, divides the book, we have a similar situation here. • Sit (2:6) • Our position in Christ • Walk (4:1) • Our Life in this world • Stand (6:11) • Our attitude to the enemy EPHESIANS NOTES

  4. Learning to walk (allover again)

  5. Learning to walking with a PURPOSE

  6. (Eph 4:1) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

  7. Know your calling

  8. (2Ti 1:9) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

  9. (Heb 3:1) Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

  10. (2Pe 1:10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

  11. Know your calling • Know there is a conclusion

  12. (2Co 5:9) Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (2Co 5:10) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (2Co 5:11) Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

  13. Learning to walking with a PURPOSE • Learning to walk without PRIDE

  14. (Eph 4:2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

  15. Characterization of lowliness

  16. (Act 20:19) Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

  17. (Php 2:3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

  18. (1Pe 5:5) Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

  19. Characterization of lowliness • Controlled strength

  20. (Eph 4:2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

  21. CONTROLLED STRENGTH

  22. (Mat 11:29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

  23. Learning to walking with a PURPOSE • Learning to walk without PRIDE • Learning to walk with your PEERS

  24. (Eph4:2-3) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

  25. Tolerate continually

  26. (Col 3:12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; (Col 3:13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

  27. (Ecc 4:9) Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. (Ecc 4:10) For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. (Amo 3:3) Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

  28. (Jas 1:2) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; (Jas 1:3) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (Jas 1:4) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

  29. Tolerate continually • This unity is our custody

  30. (Eph4:2-3) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unityof the Spirit in the bond of peace.

  31. Learning to walking with a PURPOSE • Learning to walk without PRIDE • Learning to walk with your PEERS • Learning to walk with PERCEPTIVE

  32. (Eph4:4-6) There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
