National Prevention Strategy • Released by the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council (National Prevention Council) in consultation with the public and an Advisory Group of outside experts • Council led by Surgeon General • June 16, 2011 • Authorized by the Affordable Care Act • Represents the leadership of 17 federal departments, agencies, and offices • June 13, 2012: National Prevention Council Action Plan
