This initiative focuses on improving the teaching and learning of mathematics in the East Midlands through a dynamic post-16 Subject Coaching Network. Participants will explore effective questioning strategies, share best practices, and collaboratively engage in professional development activities. Interactive sessions include examining the benefits of open vs. closed activities, sharing resources, and addressing national issues in mathematics education. Join us to create a sustainable network that enhances mathematics education and supports educators in fostering mathematical understanding and skills.

  3. Multiply any three digit number by 7. • Multiply the answer by 11. • Multiply the answer by 13 • What do you notice?

  4. “I have found some products of primes that will work as follows • 7 11 13 gives 1001 (so (100a + 10b + c)x7x11x13 = 100000a + 10000b + 1000c + 100a + 10b + c) • For 4,5,6,7 and 8 digit numbers, the following products of primes will work: • 73 137 gives 10001”

Objectives • Share good practice in teaching, learning and professional development in the region. • Consider ways in which questioning in mathematics can be opened up effectively. • Work collaboratively to identify and improve upon limited mathematical activity • Explore the National Centre portal as a focus for professional development • Consider current national issues and opportunities in mathematics and numeracy • Model a range of coaching skills to create a sustainable and supportive network for all.
