Housing LIN update Policy news: • CLG Select Committee inquiry on Housing for Older People http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/ committees-a-z/commons-select/communities-and-local-government-committee/inquiries/parliament-2015/inquiry7/- now awaiting findings • Rural Housing for Older People - The final All Party Parliamentary Group inquiry session on housing and care for older people took place last month – due to report after Easter • New Communities and Local Government and Health Committees joint inquiry on long-term funding and provision of adult social care to inform forthcoming Green Paper - written submissions invited by 7 March

Housing LIN update Funding news: • Extra £42 million of government funding for Disabled Facilities Grants • https://www.gov.uk/government/news/housing-funding-boost-to-make-more-homes-accessible-for-elderly-and-disabled-people-across-England • Awaiting further info on next Phase of DH Care & Support Specialised Housing Fund expected, including GLA and HCA allocations. • Supported Housing Funding consultation concluded on 23rd January; further details are expected later in 2018.   4. HLIN 2018 annual conference • Plans taking shape for 2018 annual conference on 23rd March • Housing LIN members will receive invitation email during w/c 12/02/18 – keep an eye out as this event books up very quickly

Making extra care housing go viral Following successful crowdfunding programme, these are the first two of ten new videos from Housing LIN documenting good practice and the need for outstanding levels of extra care housing nationwide. The videos explore the ECHO project, a collaboration between researchers from three universities, alongside the Housing LIN, exploring how care is provided in extra care housing schemes. https://www.housinglin.org.uk/AboutHousingLIN/Sponsorship/crowdfunding/Capturing-best-practice-in-Extra-Care-Housing-video-guides/. We look forward to promoting further videos in this series in the coming months.

Housing LIN – projects in progress • Supporting for NHS England across the North, Yorkshire & Humber, West Midlands and South West on Transforming Care Programme to improve housing for people with learning disability • Work with Foundations to map the location, as well as capture the details of services and projects where housing providers are supporting hospital trusts to tackle Delayed Transfers of Care (DToC) – working towards the development of a new online directory • Work to better understand issues affecting the housing needs and aspirations of BME older people – please let Clare Skidmore at c.skidmore@housinglin.org.uk know if you have a particular interest in this topic and / or have any useful insights or experience to offer

Housing LIN consultancy Underpinning your learning and improvement • Developed new service webpages setting our consultancy, training and wider fee paying services to supplement our free online and regional Housing LIN networking activities. Examples of work include • Strategic Housing for Older People Market Analysis for major developer on future demand for extra care housing • Support as part of a Local Government Association funded programme to help councils meet the housing need of their local area • Research for UK charity for people with a learning disability to better understand scale, nature and cost of specialised supported housing, to support the debate around funding in this area into the future • Exercise identify the future housing and associated requirements amongst people aged 50+ in Wales, to inform future capital investment programmes for older people
