  3. GETTING STARTED 3 1 Add More Tracks: Choose “New Basic Track” for non MIDI Choose “New Track” for MIDI Customize as you go. New Song: Save to Desktop & Select Tempo, Signature and Key 2 4 Set Up Tracks: LIVE INSTRUMENT RECORDING and/or SOFTWARE INSTRUMENT Create: Use Loops, iTunes, Live Instruments, or a mix.

  5. USING VIDEO • Add Track>Movie Track • Drag Movie Clip to Track (or use Movie Browser) • Highlight Movie Sound and Delete (to add custom audio)

  6. USING VIDEO • Customize your movie sounds. Add ambient music. Then experiment with sound layers and non-literal sounds using effects.

MIXING OPTIONS • Audio Mixing Engineer – use track mixer to balance volume, pan left to right, or add perfect fade in / out • Click triangle at top of track header • The pan dial – click in center and drag up or down to position L or R TIP: Lead vocals / Bass / drums – center pan TIP: Mix supporting keyboards and guitars to sides • Change volume of each track – drag slider to left or right • Track level meters who output level • End song with fade out – choose TRACK: fade out • The master track will show automation curve (bottom) • Customize by master mix fade by moving control points in curve Distorting No Level Change Manual Fade Out

  9. USING VIDEO • ADD CHAPTERS: Move playhead to new sequences or shifts in action. Add a marker at each location including the beginning. Name chapters.

  10. USING VIDEO • SAVING: In order to use your movie with markers you must export to iDVD. To save a working file with markers, save your GarageBand .band file and Share.
