  1. SARDONIC By: Michaela Judkins

  2. Definition Sardonic- Characterized by bitter or scornful derision, mocking, cynical, or sneering.

  3. Etymology From Greek “Sardonios” meaning of bitter or scornful laughter. Altered from Homeric “Sardanios” by influence of Sardonios because Greeks believed that a plant called “Sardonian” caused facial convulsions resembling those of sardonic laughter usually followed by death.

  4. Quotes -“If you really look at humor, that's what most of it is anyway. Somebody wisecracking at somebody else. Putting them down. If you look at all the sitcoms, that's all sitcoms are today. Things never change. Sardonic, sarcastic humor is always prevalent. It's hard to do something funny without being that way. It's classier if you didn't have to resort to it, I think.” –Johnny Hart (thinkexist.com) -Money is the string with which a sardonic destiny directs the motions of its puppets. –William Somerset Maugham (thinkexist.com) -Their songs were laced with a dry, sardonic wit, backed up with some catchy hooklines. –yourdictionary.com
