Gather Resources and Learn More • Learn more about ETD requirementswww.libraries.wvu.edu/theses/ • Determine keywords (search terms) • Determine distribution option • Review other ETDs from your department • Gather supplemental files (if applicable) • Improve your software skills • Practice converting document to PDF • Learn about support options

Before you convert to PDF… Format document to adhere to ETD standards • Title page: follow samplewww.libraries.wvu.edu/theses/samples/title.pdf • Abstract page: after title page, no page # • Table of Contents, Lists of Figures and Tables • Margins • Page Numbering • Figure and Table Captions • No blank or missing pages

  5. Convert document to PDF • Convert document to PDF • MS Word and Acrobat: Acrobat > Create PDF • LaTeX: LaTeX -> dvips -> ps2pdf • If using Acrobat, enhance PDF • Bookmarks • Hyperlinks • Document Properties • Page Numbering for Adobe Reader navigation • Optimize PDF: File > Save As

  6. Final Chapter: Submitting ETD www.libraries.wvu.edu/theses/submit-process.htm • Activate your Master ID • wvuscholar.wvu.edu:1801/deposit • Login with Master ID • Click on New Deposit Activity • Choose ETD • Complete form pages and upload file • Click on Submit

  7. Epilogue • Complete forms • Submit paperwork and fees to WVU Libraries
