  4. The Danger Is Real 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Cf. 1 Peter 2:11, John 3:18 Hebrews 3:12, Luke 8:13

  5. We Are Called To Live Holy Lives 1 Peter 1:16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 2 Peter 2:20-22

  6. The Pollutions of the World • Coarse jesting, Ephesians 4:29, 5:3-4 • Worldly entertainment • Love of money (things), 1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 6:24 • Stealing, gambling, covetousness • Drunkenness – 1 Corinthians 6:10 • Proverbs 23:29-35, 1 Peter 4:1-3

  9. We Must Endure Temptation • James 1:12 - Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

  10. Prayer Helps Matthew 6:9-13 Matthew 26:41 - Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Luke 22:46 - Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”

  11. We Must Ask In Faith James 1:6-8 James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it

  12. We are not absolved of responsibility. • Jesus said, “WATCH and pray,” “RISE and pray…” • We must do our part. • Submit to God. Resist the devil so he will flee from us – James 4:7 • 1 Corinthians 6:18 – Flee fornication – Joseph literally fled fornication in Genesis 39 • 1 Corinthians 10:14 – Flee idolatry • 2 Timothy 2:22 – Flee youthful lusts • 1 Timothy 6:11 - But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness

  13. We Must Do Our Part Purify our minds, Philippians 4:8-9 Keep the right company, 1 Corinthians 15:33 Study the Bible, Hebrews 5:12-14

  14. Prayer and Temptation Temptation is a danger to us all. Prayer helps us endure. We must do our part.

  15. Be Saved Today! Believe – John 3:16 Confess – Romans 10:10 Repent – Acts 17:30 Be Baptized – Acts 22:16 Be Faithful – Luke 9:62
