My THREATS: • changes in precipitation pattern, including reduced rainfall and increase changes of drought, all caused by climate change • change in the Central Valley from open grasslands to farms, orchards, houses and roads causes greatest impact • roads, orchards, houses, and farms lead to death, injury, illness, and difficulty finding a mate or food • floods and suffocating because of cave ins

  11. FACT-a-THON • I am the smallest species of the fox to be found in America, weighing only 5 pounds • I don’t need freshwater to survive, since it’s in my food. • My large ears might help dissipate body heat and detect tiny noises/sounds. • I’m one of a kind- an umbrella species(protecting my habitat will save other animals too)! • I can move between 30 different dens and roam 9 miles in search of food at night. • Carrizo Plain is where the largest kit fox, my relative, lives. • nocturnal animals
