The notes develop gradually, starting with the top note's instant impression and moving down to the deeper middle notes before finally arriving as the foundation notes. With an understanding of how the perfume will evaporate, these notes are meticulously crafted.  Top notes: Also called the head notes.  Middle notes: Also referred to as heart notes.  Base notes: The scent of a perfume that appears close to the departure of the middle notes.
