  2. Background • Lingual thyroglossal duct cyst(TGDC) • Rare form of TGDC (2~3%) • Symptoms : incidentally detected ~ life threatening respiratory difficulty (mass at tongue, dysphonia, feeding difficulty..) • Ultrasound, MRI • Surgical removal

  3. Case – History of illness • F/2 months • C.C : scalp mass • Birth history • IUP 38 wks, 3.2kg, NSVD • 2 weeks : laryngoscope d/t grungingrepiration : normal • Physical exam • Mass on frontal scalp • Expiratory grunting respiration

  6. Case – Operation • Preoperative diagnosis • Lingual thyroglossal duct cyst • Hemangioma, frontal scalp • Postoperative diagnosis • Same as above • Operation name • Transoralmarsupialization of lingual thyroglossal duct cyst • Excision of hemangioma

  7. Case – Progress • Pathological diagnosis • A. Labeled 'thyroglossal duct': Consistent with thyroglossal duct cyst • B. Labeled 'hematoma': Juvenile hemangioma • POD # 1 • NPO • POD # 2 • Milk feeding • POD # 3 • Discharged

  8. Conclusion • Marsupializationfor Lingual TGDC • Successful • Less complex • Lower morbidity • Sistrunkoperaiton • Complex, higher morbidity (tongue, madible splitting, cervical approach) • Puncture and aspiration • Higher recurrence rate
