  1. HP and VMware Lower Mid-Market Virtualization Campaign April 3, 2008

  2. What is the focus of this campaign? What is the Virtual In-Box Environment Solution? What is HP integrated VMware ESXi 3.5? Today’s agenda

  3. What is the focus of the campaign? • Secure HP as the infrastructure platform for VMware consolidation opportunities (servers, storage, infrastructure software, care packs, etc.) • Sell HP’s VMware virtualization software and support (note: the VMware virtualization software sold by HP must be sold with an HP server in +/- 30 days from date of software purchase; exceptions to this are ELA’s, VMware upgrades and support renewals) • Sell HP’s VMware capacity planner assessment service (care pack offering) • Sell the Virtual In-Box Environment (VIBE) solution developed by Virtual Blocks to provide your customer’s with a simple, cost effective and scalable virtualization solution • Position HP’s integrated hypervisor offering for VMware which provides improved security, reliability, and simplified management along with rapid installation, configuration, and deployment • Maximize your opportunity to sell your organization’s services (assessments, proof of concepts, implementations, migrations, outsourcing, etc.) • Enhance our collective ability to compete with a comprehensive solution sales approach

  4. Campaign Overview– HP Deliverables and Commitments • HP led telemarketing campaign through HP’s in-sourced telemarketing resources from OnPath • HP’s customer list, prospect list and rental list to be used by OnPath to address the target audience of lower mid-market organizations across Canada with 100-249 employees. Target is Senior IT Managers for software and hardware and applicable C-level executives. The HP prospect list source is the Harte Hanks database. • Qualified leads from this campaign to be delivered to selected partners who agree to sell the VMware virtualization software and support sold by HP plus the applicable HP server • Selected partners will receive qualified leads for an agreed upon geographic area • Qualified leads to be delivered to selected partners via HP’s Inside Sales Reps • HP has developed a resource page where all content that has been developed for this campaign will be posted to assist you in the sales process: • A copy of the call guide developed by HP, VMware, Virtual Blocks and OnPath • Sales tools specifically designed for selling HP based VMware consolidation solutions (messaging guide, whitepapers, reference configurations, web links, etc.) • Relevant HP product offers where applicable • The resource page can be accessed at: www.hp.ca/vmware_lower • User name: hppartner • Password: vmwarelmm

  5. Campaign Overview– What we need from you to participate in this campaign • For all qualified leads you receive, your call to action can include: • the promotion of an upcoming event such as a seminar or webinar you will be delivering around HP based VMware consolidation solutions • an assessment service that you have developed to help customers understand the benefits and impact of virtualization in their environment • other unique offers you have available for virtualization opportunities • As next steps if you wish to receive qualified leads for your assigned geographic area, we need you to confirm the contact in your organization that qualified leads should be sent to (name, email address, phone number)

  20. What is the focus of this campaign? What is the Virtual In-Box Environment Solution? What is HP integrated VMware ESXi 3.5? Today’s agenda

  21. Customer challenges: Difficult/time-consuming to install hypervisor Typically need Linux knowledge to install hypervisor Under-utilized servers Adopting virtualization seen as a big a commitment (especially smaller customers) Integrated hypervisor benefits: Hypervisor is shipped factory installed in the server, serial number already entered. Hypervisor is in a ready-to-run state Low priced for basic features with option to upgrade Smaller hypervisor footprint means fewer exploitation points Integrated Hypervisor Drivers The virtualization market is rapidly growing and has a number of new entrants, with many of them looking at “integrated” hypervisors as the next big step.

  22. HP ProLiant iVirtualization What is HP ProLiant iVirtualization? • ProLiant servers with iVirtualization boot directly from an internally installed USB key • New servers are ready to run VMware 3i virtualization technology right out of the box. Active hardware management using HP SIM • HP Systems Insight Manager providers are included to pro-actively surface hardware monitoring data • Servers are proactively polled in two minute increments • Some subsystems will send alerts when an issue has occurred (CPU, fan, power, memory) Consolidated lifecycle management • Future updates to product images are made using the same tool used to update ProLiant system firmware Broad server support • HP offers the broadest range of supported servers in the market

  23. Benefits of 3i Server Integration Reduce entry price Intuitive start-up and easy to use Diskless servers Reliable and secure Benefits of 3i Server from HP Choice of VMware ESX Server 3i and VMware ESX Server 3i Enterprise edition delivered via a USB installed in internal USB port Consistent, reliable ProLiant experience Active hardware management using HP SIM – a foundational element of HP Insight Control Management portfolio Consolidated lifecycle management Broad range of supported servers provides investment protection HP integrated VMware ESX Server 3i HP ProLiant and BladeSystem servers with VMware ESX Server 3i based editions integrated provide a simplified virtualization start up experience and reduced security risk. 27. Management without the Service Console Any existing scripts or command line operations that had been written to execute in the Console operating system (OS) will need to be modified to run in the Remote CLI or through the Virtual Infrastructure Client. A Linux-based management VM is still available to customers as an environment to run their own management tools.

  28. Multiple licensing options HP integrated VMware ESX Server 3i Stand Alone • For single server deployments • Compatible with VI Client only • HP image includes HP Systems Insight Manager providers • Optional technical software support and updates • Can be upgraded to HP integrated VMware ESX Server 3i Enterprise Edition HP integrated VMware ESX Server 3i VI3 Enterprise Edition • For multi-server VI3 installations • HP image includes HP Systems Insight Manager providers • Includes 1-year 9x5 unlimited technical software support and updates VI3 Enterprise VI3 Standard Additional licenses to build a virtual infrastructure VI3 Starter Available standalone or in a bundle ESX Server 3i

  29. VMware Infrastructure 3 Most effective way to manage your infrastructure Mainframe-class reliability and availability Platform for any OS, HW, Application Add’l Benefits of Server Integration Plug-and-play capacity management ESX Server 3i Enterprise Edition supports VI3 1:Many Management (VirtualCenter) Mobility (VMotion) Resource Management (DRS) Availability (HA) Distributed services that act on groups of servers

  31. HP hardware management with 3i Reliability is a hallmark of ProLiant servers. HP management in a 3i environment ensures a higher degree of hardware management than is available natively. HP CIM providers on 3i surface both physical asset and system status information: • Physical asset information relates to surfacing information about what is installed on the server, such as the CPU, memory footprint, etc. • Status information about system components is what is needed to truly manage the hardware. HP has two ways of providing the most up to date information regarding HP hardware: • Polling of the system in two minute increments • Some subsystems will send alerts when something has occurred on the hardware.

  32. HP CIM provider information Version 1, March ’08 Supported Functionality • Consolidated Status • Indications • Virtual System Guest to Host associations • System Event Log (SEL) Record Log Supported Infrastructure Components • CPU • Fan • Power Supply • Temperature Sensors Note: Use of CIM providers requires HP SIM 5.2

  33. HP Smart Update Manager integration Same tool used to update system, iLO, Smart Array, Hard drive, OA, and NIC firmware HP Smart component technology used to deliver USB Key image The Smart Component will flash the entire image on the key Redundant image environment: Target image location is to USB key partition, which maintains existing image in separate partition on USB key in case of failure Investigation in progress on flashing USB key image remotely via CLI and remote HPSUM GUI 3i lifecycle management with HP SUM

  34. Support options HP subscription and support
